Qualcomm Mobile Phone Class Action Lawsuit Settlement

Did you purchase a cell phone since Feb. 11, 2011, and then you may get compensation under the Qualcomm class action lawsuit.

The Qualcomm antitrust class action lawsuit is pending in federal court. Any kind of settlement has not been reached from the company side and no money is available at this time but will come soon.

However, this litigation is the biggest class action in the history which affects the rights of more than 250 million cell phone owners in the country.

All About The Case:

According to the lawsuit the Qualcomm engaged in anticompetitive behaviour and thus were merged into multidistrict litigation in April 2017. U.S. District. Judge Lucy H. Koh granted Class certification of the Qualcomm antitrust litigation in September 2018.

All those U.S. consumer or entity who bought a cell phone with a Qualcomm modem chipset since February 2011 is covered under the lawsuit.

However, the Qualcomm ask the court to revisit the decision.  And, without holding any hearing, the district court certified a class estimated around 250 million people.

Further, the company says that according to the estimate Class size of 250 million members, the financial damages could range between $4.84 billion and $5.54 billion.

There is no need to anything at this time as the case is in the court and soon the settlement will be declared by the Qualcomm. All those consumers who would like to be excluded from this multidistrict litigation must do so no before March 22, 2019.

The Recent update on the lawsuit:

On Jan. 23, 2019, Qualcomm has approved an immediate appeal for the certified Class Members of cell phone owners. It granted the appeal for all who involved in a class action lawsuit and alleging the company about overpriced chips ubiquitous in the mobile devices.

The Qualcomm appeal the court that the certified Class of 250 million consumers is “simply too large and unwieldy to manage” in a petition.
