Utz, Bachman ‘All Natural’ Snacks Class Action Settlement

A $1.25 million settlement has been reached between snack maker company, Utz and Bachman and plaintiffs. The class action lawsuit claimed that the company’s chips, pretzels and pork rinds are “all natural” contains artificial flavors.

People who purchased Utz and  Bachman snack products labeled as “all natural” between Dec. 30, 2010 and March 30, 2019 can get compensation.

Eligible products for claim include:

  • Utz Branded Potato Chips
  •  Baked Potato Chips
  •  Branded Pretzels
  • Utz Branded Popcorn
  • Utz Branded Tortillas
  • Snack Mixes
  • Salsas and Utz Dips
  • Cheese and Extruded Snacks
  • Utz Branded Pork Rinds
  • Bachman Branded Pretzels
  • Bachman Branded Potato Chips
  • Tortilla Chips and Corn Chips
  • Bachman Branded Cheese Snacks
  •  Popcorn
  • Bachman Branded Salsa

Case Summary

Lead plaintiffs Matt DiFrancesco, Angela Mizzoni, and Lynn Marrapodi filed a case against Utz and Bachman that the products allegedly contained artificial ingredients. The plaintiffs say they would never  purchase the items if they know earlier.

Moreover, according to the Utz, Bachman class action the products has non-natural ingredients despite label like “all natural,” “natural,” “non-GMO,” or “non synthetic,”. The plaintiffs claimed that the Utz did wrong to them by selling non natural product under natural label.

However, Utz agreed to pay $1.25 million to settle the class action lawsuit that will save them from unwanted expenditure and litigation. Moreover, according to the terms and conditions of the settlement, the Class Members can receive up to $20 for their each valid claim. But, Claims are limited to 10 eligible products and class members can file only one claim form per household before deadline.

In addition, the snack company has agreed to stop using the terms “natural” and “all natural” on its labeling.

The deadline for Class Members to object to or opt out of the settlement is June 13, 2019.

Class Members  who purchased Utz or Bachman branded products between Dec. 30, 2010 and March 30, 2019 are eligible.

Potential Award

Up to $20.

$2 per item purchased, up to $20 per household.
