A $45 million grain processing class action settlement has reached in IOWA corporation lawsuit. According to the 2012 Iowa Grain Processing class action lawsuit, the company’s plant IN Iowa was not suitable for the surrounding areas due to the odor, haze, and smoke.
This settlement resolves the claims that the grain plant came as a nuisance to the homeowners. And, these claims were resolved through a settlement in which the corporation will pay $45 million.
A class member is eligible for the settlement if they meet the several requirements including-
- The member has lived at the property in the class area for any period between April 24, 2007, and September 1, 2017.
- You are the owner, renter or dependent on the property.
- If the class member is not employed by GPC.
- If you did not opt out of the class action in 2017.
In case, if you are unsure of the settlement, a map of the class area is available on the settlement’s website. But the compensation will be determined by the proximity of the IOWA grain processing plant, level of air populated at the plant for over the next five years. These measures will reduce the odor and emissions that prompted the class action lawsuit.
If you want to object the settlement, you must do it by Jan’03 2019.
Potential Award
$2,000 to $16,000
The members who have lived in the areas with the highest modelled concentration of pollutants will receive $12,000 to $16,000 per individual.
If the class member has lived in the mid-level concentrations of pollutants is $6,000 to $8,000 per individual. And, If the class member has lived in the low-level concentrations of pollutants, they will get $2,000 to $4,000.

The members who have lived in Iowa within 1.5 miles of Grain Processing Corporation that is located at 1600 Oregon Street, between April 24, 2007, and September 1, 2017.

The proof that you were the renter or an owner of property including-
- Lease, Mortgage
- Utility Bills
- Other documentation that the settlement administration deems to be reliable.
