Did you purchased SweeTARTS candies between Jan. 1, 2012 and Feb. 28, 2019 from Ferrara Candy Company? If yes, then you may file a claim under artificial flavors class action settlement.<\/p>\n

The company has agree to pay settlement amount to resolve the case against it. And, the class action lawsuit alleges that the candies has artificial added flavors.<\/p>\n

The individuals who purchased Original, SweeTARTS Mini Chewy, SweeTARTS Chews, and other similar products will get benefits from the settlement. Further, the plaintiff filed the SweeTARTS class action lawsuit in April 2018. Further, lawsuit alleges that Ferrara had violated labeling rules by representing their candies as free of artificial flavor.<\/p>\n

Case summary<\/h2>\n

Plaintiff Jessica Littlejohn argued that the candies contain malic acid which is a synthetic flavor to enhance the tart flavor. Further, she argued that the artificial flavoring ingredients that simulate the characterizing flavor, was not mentioned on the front label.  And, according to law information about the additional flavors is must rather than state, that the “Products contain no artificial flavors”.<\/p>\n

Littlejohn claimed that the label on SweeTARTS contains \u201cno artificial flavoring\u201d were false and purposefully misled the consumers. And, the SweeTARTS candy class action also raise the issue with the products\u2019 ingredient lists. Therefore, according to the class action the Malic acid needs to be listed in candies specific form.<\/p>\n

A settlement in the SweeTARTS class action lawsuit was reached at the end of February 2019.<\/p>\n

The recently reached settlement will provide injunctive relief rather than monetary compensation. But it doesn’t mean that you get no benefits, the claimants may get benefits from the class action. Therefore, wait for the final hearing to know the exact result for compensation.<\/p>\n

But, those who want to exclude for this settlement can do so before May 1, 2019. The final approval hearing is scheduled for May 31, 2019.<\/p>\n
