An indirect purchaser Lithium-Ion Batteries antitrust settlement has been reached to resolve the class action lawsuit filed by the \u2018indirect purchasers\u2019 of products.<\/p>\n
They alleged that the defendants have to change the prices of the lithium-ion batteries. Not only this, but the plaintiffs also claimed that they had also violated the state and federal antitrust laws.<\/p>\n
So, if you have purchased any device with lithium-ion batteries, since 2000, you are eligible for compensation under the settlement.<\/p>\n
ThJanuary 18, 2019e defendants are denying the allegations on them, but some of them have agreed for the settlements to avoid the burden and expense of litigation. Moreover, they have agreed to pay $45 million for settling the Lithium-Ion batteries class action lawsuit. However, the list of defendants includes Sony Corporation, Maxell Corporation of America, Hitachi Maxell Ltd., and NEC Corporation.<\/p>\n
The lithium-ion batteries antitrust litigation is still pending against following defendants including Samsung SDI Co. Ltd., Samsung SDI America Inc., Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd., Sanyo North America Corporation Panasonic Corporation, Panasonic Corporation of North America, NEC Tokin Corporation and Toshiba Corporation.<\/p>\n
Class Members who would like to opt out from the indirect purchaser antitrust settlement must do it before June 12, 2017.<\/p>\n
The eligible class members include all the persons who were US residents during January 1, 2000, and May\u201931, 2011.\u00a0 Along with being a resident, they have indirectly purchased the product that has a lithium-ion battery in it.<\/p>\n
Moreover, the customer must have purchased the product from someone other than the manufacturer, such as a retailer.<\/p>\n
