However, it excludes oversized and overweight checked bags, sports equipment and speciality items. American Airlines breached its contract with certain passengers by charging them for checking their bags despite their promises.<\/p>\n<p>A Harvard professor, Max Bazerman, filed the American Airlines class action lawsuit in December 2016, accusing American Airlines of incorrectly charging checked baggage fees despite promising free checked bags in member contracts and confirmation emails.
