American Airlines Checked Baggage Fees Settlement: Are you Eligible?

The American Airlines Checked Baggage Fee class action settlement offers benefits to the US residents who traveled on the Airlines between July 13, 2013, and June 7, 2018, and were incorrectly charged checked baggage fees.

When passengers purchase air tickets from American Airlines for travel, they form a contract in which AA promises certain passengers that they can one or more bags at no additional charges, based on their route of travel, the cabin of service, frequent flyer status and other reasons. However, it excludes oversized and overweight checked bags, sports equipment and speciality items. American Airlines breached its contract with certain passengers by charging them for checking their bags despite their promises.

A Harvard professor, Max Bazerman, filed the American Airlines class action lawsuit in December 2016, accusing American Airlines of incorrectly charging checked baggage fees despite promising free checked bags in member contracts and confirmation emails. On June 22, U.S. District Court Judge William Young approved a settlement of amount $16,000,000 between American Airlines and Max Bazerman.
