Alarm.com Telemarketing Phone Calls Class Action Settlement

Alarm.com ready to pay $28 million to resolve allegations that Alarm.com placed telemarketing calls to cell phones without express consent. The individuals or class members who received calls on behalf of or from Alarm.com since Dec. 30, 2011 can claim the compensation.

To be eligible the Class Members must have either of received the following calls:

  • Call must have been made with an automatic dialing system or artificial prerecorded voice.
  • On a residential line received an artificial prerecorded voice.
  • Two or more calls received on a phone number that was registered with National Do Not Call.

Complaint filed:

Lead plaintiffs accused that the alarm Service Company, and a third party advertiser, make telemarketing calls in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. The Alarm.com class action lawsuit alleged that more than 1.2 million consumers were get call.

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act, or TCPA, prohibits Alarm.com and Alliance from using telemarketing calls without permission of consumers.

The TCPA also created the National Do Not Call Registry in which consumers can add list of their cell and landline numbers. Further, phone numbers on this list cannot be contacted by telemarketers. Indeed, companies which violate the TCPA need to give fines of up to $1,500 per call for violation of the law.

However, Alarm.com agreed to pay $28 million to settle the case against it. In addition, the company says it will change the way of advertises to ensure compliance with the TCPA.

The estimated payout that each Class Members in the Alarm.com TCPA class action settlement can get is in between $94 and $142. It entirely depends upon the valid claims submitted by class members till deadline. You can fill the claim Forms either by mail or by online process.
